[Contains author's complete and unabridged,first 5 novels but not in chronologically published order: 'The Spy Who Came in from the Cold','Call For The Dead','A Murder of Quality','The Looking-Glass War' and 'A Small Town in Germany'.] VG++/VG+.No owner inscrptn but price-clip to dw/dj.Bright,crisp,clean, glossy laminated,colour photographic illustrated front panel of dw/dj with pale green+white lettering,rear panel with monochrome author's portrait photograph; with some minimal shelf-wear and creasing to bottom edges and corners; top edges less affected with creasing but has a part semi-circular closed tear (internally sellotape repaired) extending from foot of letter 'J' of John up to head of spine/ backstrip's gutter's edge with some minimal loss at the head of spine/ backstrip's front corner - no other major nicks or tears present.Top edges fairly clean but with a thumb/grub mark and light dust-soiling marks too but no ageing/ toning,fore-edges brighter and cleaner; contents bright,tight,clean,solid and sound - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners,would appear unread - apart from my own collation.Bright,crisp,clean, sharp-cornered, publisher's original plain maroon rexine boards with bright,crisp, stamped gilt letters to spine/backstrip,a red+white chequered headband and immaculate pale green background with author's repeated green ink name decorated eps.UK,thick 8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn thus,14- 816pp [paginated] includes the five novels,plus [unpaginated] blank,author's name page,5 titles title page,a contents list/table,a blank and title separator page for each of the 5 novels,and to the rear - a publisher's advert for other omnibuses in this series by the same publishers.
There was an earlier omnibus edition UK, Gollancz,1964 HB+dw/dj but with only 2 of these 5 titles: 'Call for the Dead' and 'A Murder of Quality' respectively, and there is no US omnibus.This is the only format with all 5 novels.
Since April 2013,again in March 2015,and in this year too,the UK Post Office has altered it's Pricing in Proportion template,altering it's prices,weight allowances,dimensions and lowered it's qualifying compensation rates too!
